In 1937, Fritz Schaefer founded a company for manufacturing sheet metal products.
A new building was erected in 1939 and 1940 to house new welding machines and a 60 metric-ton press.
1945 brought about a greater focus on everyday products and food containers and tins were manufactured.
Stackable milk crates were introduced by SSI SCHAEFER in 1950.
The development of the semi-open front containers made its debut in 1953.
1958 marked the start of plastics production with an acquisition of Thermoplastik in Bensheim for plastic containers.
Mobile shelving and pallet racking was introduced in 1965.
In 1969, the company expanded into Canada.
The introduction of containers for conveyors was launched in 1972.
The company later expanded the North American office to include Charlotte, N.C. in 1989.
2016 GlobalStac™ was introduced to the market, which provides 95% cube utilization in both sea containers and tractor-trailers.
The subsidiary of San Luis Potosi Mexico opens its doors in 2017.
